The Academy at Newport Contemporary Ballet has been providing dance education of the highest quality to children and adults from all over Rhode Island since 1979. The Academy trains both professional dancers and students who dance for the exercise and pure love of movement.
New registrations are taken throughout the year when space is available in classes. Feel free to come observe any class or drop in to take a class. We look forward to welcoming all new students to The Academy!
The ultimate in affordable camps for the creative child! Art, Ceramics, Theater and Digital Media camps are taught in our professional art studios and black box theater. Tried and true campers return year after year for awesome experiences. Our friendly staff of artist educators create a safe, welcoming environment where each child is able to fully engage, build confidence, be creative and learn.
Campers age 6 to age 14 can choose from a variety of camps starting June 16th through August 29th. Camp runs Monday through Friday, 9am-3pm with before and after-care available. One-week, sailing/paddling EcoAdventure summer camps offer long-distance picnic cruises, fun on-the-water games and hands-on environmental lessons. Two-week Sailing Camps use kid-sized boats, fun games, and lots of encouragement in hands-on sailing. After-school, adult classes, sailing parties, facility rentals also available.
Debate Camp provides an engaging, skills-enrichment summer opportunity for students in grades 5 through 10. In 2025 we are excited to once again host Debate Camp in beautiful Portsmouth Abbey School. We offer a well-loved program in public speaking, parliamentary debate, Model United Nations and general confidence-building for the aspiring young speaker! Debate Camp is open to all ability levels and programs are challenge-levelled — with instruction available for novice to competitive speakers. Campers work in small groups to develop their ideas, and speak in partnership as part of 2- and 4-person teams representing their side of the debate resolution (parliamentary- style). Young speakers at all levels are generally amazed at their growth and development over 1 week. All instruction and supervision ratios are set at 1:8. Our daily schedule also includes organized games, impromptu speaking, drama and interactive activities to ensure camp retains a fun and balanced approach to learning. Model United Nations simulations and mini-tournaments complete the week. The feedback we encounter is often on the theme of genuine surprise at just how enjoyable an academic enrichment and skills development program can be. Day and overnight camp options available. Attention aspiring Chefs! Taste Buds Kitchen is thrilled to offer a fantastic lineup of delicious cooking camps! Each week, participants will create and taste unique menus. Some popular themes include Baking Adventures, Restaurant Week, Great American Bake-Off, Chocolate Lovers, and Cupcake and Cookie Bakery, to name a few!

Fencing is a fun, safe sport that hones the mind and body through a disciplined blend of determination, skill and competitiveness. Beginner fencers will develop a solid foundation of skills, while experienced fencers will greatly improve their performance. Using a wide range of fencing-specific footwork, games and practice, our programs for children develop coordination, concentration, and self-esteem. Not to mention it’s tons of fun! All RIFAC instructors are professionally trained and each is dedicated to discovering the potential of each individual student. Full and half-day camps are available. All equipment is provided. For kids ages 8-18.
At Summer at St. Andrew’s campers can choose from immersive week-long experiences in the arts, athletics, STEAM, outdoor adventure, and more. Our weekly Rover (3-4 yrs.) and Voyager (5-7 & 8-10 yrs.) day camps offer children age appropriate themed experiences with small groups of their peers. Back by popular demand, our one-week Enchanted Royalty Dance Camp gives the tiniest dancers (ages 3 to 7) plenty of opportunities to leap, twirl, and sparkle. We’ve rounded out our performance options with three more dance camps and a selection of music programs as well. We’ve expanded our visual arts offerings, to include 12 different camps. We continue to offer Hoops with Hart, our long running basketball camp, and we are also offering squash camp, a strength and conditioning camp and an evening soccer camp. We are also offering a week long affinity camp for LGBTQ+ kids run by and for members of the queer community. All of these coupled with our tech camps and our academic offerings make summer at St. Andrew’s your one stop for all sorts of summer camp fun.
