For over a century, the building at the corner of Weybosset and Mathewson has stood as a key landmark in Providence, offering a rich blend of history and community. Today, it is home to Claudine. Founded by husband-and-wife chefs Josh Finger and Maggie McConnell, the restaurant is not just a love story but a testament to their shared passion for hospitality and cooking.

Josh and Maggie met in the kitchen of Thomas Keller’s three-Michelin-starred Per Se in New York City. Their time there instilled in them a relentless commitment to precision, discipline, and collaboration. After countless trips to Maggie’s hometown of Providence, the choice of location was clear when the time came to build something of their own. Named in honor of Josh’s mother, Claudine is a return home and the beginning of something great. In the heart of Providence, guests are invited into an experience that is refined, playful, and welcoming.

Each night, the kitchen offers a tasting menu shaped by the seasons. Rooted in the traditions of classic French cooking, Claudine defines New England fine dining, drawing from the region’s bounty with purpose and restraint. The dining room hums with energy, filled with the sound of lively service and the anticipation of what comes next. Claudine exists to evoke awe, surprise, and connection—to become a place where guests return time and time again, where chefs are mentored, and where a future is built, one service at a time.

This is Claudine. We look forward to welcoming you.
